Nogizaka46 member Mai Shiraishi reveals the artwork of her 2nd solo phobook “Passport”, “Passport” will be released on 7 February.
Mai Shiraishi (Shiraishi Mai, born August 20, 1992 in Gunma) is a singer, model and a member of the Japanese idol girl group Nogizaka46. She is a first generation member of the group Nogizaka46. Shiraishi currently serves as a model for fashion magazines Ray and LARME. She is also part of the Hachi Fukujin ( 8 Deities of Good Luck).
Nogizaka46 (Nogizaka Forty-six) is a Japanese female idol group produced by Yasushi Akimoto, built as the official rival of the group AKB48. Nogizaka46 was named after the place where the SME Nogizaka Building, which houses Sony Music Japan’s office, is located in. Their producer Yasushi Akimoto also said that the number “46” was chosen as a direct challenge to AKB48. Their anniversary is celebrated on February 22 because their 1st debut single was released in 2012, so on February 22,2013, Nogizaka46 held their first anniversary concert called Nogizaka46 Birthday Live at Makuhari Messe in Chiba. They performed all songs featured in the previous four singles, and about 9,000 fans gathered for the concert.
After graduating from High School, Shiraishi pursue her studies in a music college since she desired to be a singer. Later on, one of her teacher suggest her to audition for Nogizaka46.
Her idol career started when she was accepted to be one of the 1st Generation member in AKB48 Official Rival Group, Nogizaka46, on 21 August 2011. She was chosen as one of the members in Nogizaka46 to release their debut song “Guruguru Curtain” on 22 February 2012. When Nogizaka46 release their 2nd single “Oide Shampoo”, she was chosen again to be in the senbatsu. Her career as a model started as she participated in Girls Award 2012 Autumn/Winter with her fellow Nogizaka46 member, Nanase Nishino.
Nogizaka46 have their own variety show on television, hosted by the comedian duo Bananaman, which started to air on October 2, 2011. This variety show is entitled Nogizakatte, Doko (Where is Nogizaka)?
On August 21, 2015, their associated group Keyakizaka46 was as well established.
