Momoiro Clover Z as Athletes for “BLAST!” Music Video and Live Performance

As for it’s finally 3 years until Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics, Japanese girls idol group Momoiro Clover Z released the opportunity with athletic-themed single “BLAST!“. Their new music video “BLAST!” is a fictitious sports festival “Fukaya 2020” and has the group members participating in various activities, featuring athletes and coaches are mononofu—meaning of superfans of Momoclo.

For Judo Open Weight, leader Kanako Momota faces Judo World Champion Kanae YamabeAyaka Sasaki is coached by weightlifting Olympian Hiromi Miyake for her Women’s Weightlifting Match. Shiori Tamai faced against Olympian Karin Miyawaki in Women’s Foil Gold Medal Match for fencing. Reni Takagi and Momoka Ariyasu, coached by professional figure skater Nobunari Oda, team up for a women’s Doubles Gold Medal Match in Ping Pong.

Momoiro Clover Z

Momoiro Clover Z is a Japanese idol group. It is commonly abbreviated as MCZ or Momoclo (Momokuro). The five members of MCZ are all energetic performances, incorporating elements of ballet, gymnastics, and action movies. MCZ are the first female group to hold a solo concert at National Olympic Stadium in Japan. They are the only group to provide theme music for three major Japanese anime television series with worldwide distribution: Sailor MoonDragon Ball Z and Pokémon.
